At first, I didn't attach eyes to the teddy bears. I considered them to be interior objects rather than plush toys. I also thought the eyes were rather distracting, as the eyes would be imposed on sometimes intricate prints and patterns.
Then, several people started to ask if I would attach the eyes to the bears. Initially I said no, but as I got more and more of the same inquiries, I started to think.
I've come to realize that people see teddy bears as objects of adoration, which have character and comfort its owner just by their presence. You might think "Duh!", but as a child, I didn't own stuffed animals and so I was never attached to them as such. Live and learn.
