Silk Tote Bag Made from Salvaged Obi Sash Belt — Gold & Orange Floral #0701006
Japanese kimonos and obi sash belts are expensive even in Japan, because many of them are made of silk. Some are literal wearable pieces of art. Modern Japanese people wear them mostly on special occasions, and handle them with special care and attention because if they are stained, they are not appropriate to wear any longer.
Still, accidents happen and kimonos and obi sash belts are stained. I get those unwearable kimonos and obi sash belts to make bags. In many cases, the kimonos and obi sash belts are still beautiful and reusable for different purposes.
This beautifully embroidered silk tote bag once was a Japanese Obi sash belt, whose fabric has substantial thickness perfect to remake as a bag. Magnet button closure, and one pocket each are added inside and outside.
Many of my items are unique, because they are handmade and the source materials are limited.
Approximate measurements (excluding handles): 15" x 11"
